Hi Em!

I am always spying, wishing, wanting & buying so change of season is a great excuse for me to ‘justify’ a little extra shopping!!

I try to create lists of things I need or want to add to my wardrobe! This helps me stay on track, make smart purchases & stay within my budget!

There are a few key pieces I am on the hunt for! I always take my time when shopping! I am definitely not an impulse buyer! I think though every purchase (sometimes for months) before handing over the cash!

I also make sure I shop around, purchasing items that I think are reasonably prices for their quality. I’m bit of a snob when it comes to what labels I like to purchase. I definitely don’t have a big budget (hello poor uni student) but I am very particular about which labels I buy. I like my wardobe to be organised, Peter Alexander for sleeping, Nike for working out, Kookai for basics.. etc. etc. Its a little (Im being kind, VERY) OCD.

Anyway, I am currently on a mission to cull my wardrobe down to black & white basics and statement party dresses (like I said, OCD)!!

My winter wishlist is as follows;

A-Line Leather Mini Skirt:

Leather is so hot for winter. I plan to live in my leather pants, so hope to add (another) leather mini to my wardrobe for those slightly warmer days! Amazing paired with an oversized knit!! The A-line shape will make this skirt easy to ‘casual-down’.

image

Thigh High Boots:

I have actually pre-ordered this pair from Tony Bianco. Perfect way to wear Dresses through winter!

image

White Shirt:

I am saving for a classic Equipment Shirt (Status: Saving) from Net-a-porter.com -because the packaging will make it worth the wait!

image

Leather Vest:

ASOS & Country Road both have options however I am hoping to invest in real leather rather than faux.

image

Bomber Vest:

I just purchased this Cameo Bomber from The Birdcage Boutique! Its a great alternative to the Josh Goot quilted vest (for a fraction of the price). Unfortunately its currently sold out, however give the girls at the BCB an email, as its being recut in april in a leather-look fabric!!

Cropped White Knit Jumper:

This beautiful Nicholas Knit is available at Splice Boutique!

For All Enquiries contact the girls on (02) 99050790 or ‘like’ their facebook page for details on new arrivals, sales and more..

Black  Jumper:

I have my eye on this brocaded jumper by Nicholas, again available at Splice Boutique!

For All Enquiries contact the girls on (02) 99050790 or ‘like’ their facebook page for details on new arrivals, sales and more..

Every-day boots:

I am in desperate need of winter foot-wear! On the hunt for black, flat ankle boots that I can wear everyday! I just bought these Alexander Wang inspired Kori boots. Sad to say I couldn’t justify spending the extra dollars with so many affordable copies around!! In saying that, I still need a boot thats a little more versatile.

image

Easy Dresses:

Black, mid-length, paired with ankle boots ( that I am yet to purchase), big coat ( also yet to purchase) and waaa-laa! I have already found some great options at Kookai!

image

White Blazer:

A classic wardrobe staple! I recently scored myself a sportsgirl bargain!!

image

Long Line Coat:

I am all about warmth this winter! On the hunt for an oversized blazer coat! As seen on the runways of Ellery & Marc Jacobs! Hopefully in a cream or beige! Nicholas has some great options with prices starting around $600.

As always, this list is ever growing and I would be hear for days if I listed everything I plan to buy but I hope this gives you some idea of what I will be adding to my wardrobe this winter!!

Thanks for your question!! xxxx

Lets be honest. Everyone loves a pant trend. No fuss, minimal expense and easy to wear! The stripe pant offers a simple update to your everyday mix! With plenty of ways to wear the look, you can take the beginners route with denim versions or   lash out on a pair of trousers (sure to get Grandma’s approval).

Im have a huge crush on trousers, so for me this is a great excuse to invest in them! This trend emerged with sport luxe -think classic Adidas stripe down your track pants, however the stripe has since taken a turn towards mens-wear.

Pair it with a crisp white shirt (like Miranda) or and oversized blazer (As seen by Ellery) for full effect.

Want to shop this look?

1. ASOS  have so many options at all price ranges starting at $50

Painterly prints & exquisite embellishment are in the frame for spring.

This look first caught my eye during London Fashion Week with Kate Eary AW13. I would like to think Eary’s take on the graphic trend, emerging from Givenchy, is just a taste of what we will see trending the catwalks and streets (bloggers will be all over this) during spring later this year! I loved Eary’s creative repetition of crab claws!!

Leading the way are designers like Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto & Michael Van Der Ham.

Work this look with understated make-up & a low sleek pony, adding black heels to refine. image

Don’t be apprehensive about rocking your white denim this winter. White jeans are a fresh take on the winter blues. Arriving hand in hand with this seasons white on white trend, adding a pair of white jeans to your wardrobe is essential.

The key to looking seasonably chic in your white jeans is simply in how you style them. I personally love how fresh they look paired with denim or cuffed at the ankle with strappy heels. Toughen the look with a leather jacket, or layer with a bomber vest!

If your looking to invest in a pair I always find S&B to stand the test of time & be the best fit!

Thankyou for your enquiry!

I think I have some great options for you! Working with children, I understand that you need to be able to move around freely, get messy, sit on the floor, but still look presentable at home time!!

Check out these great country road options;

Country road is a great price point & most of these options come in different colours too! There are some very strong pant trends this winter! Firstly its important to know that Black & White Monochrome is a huge trend! You can pretty much forget any other trend that pops up this winter, stick with & invest in monochrome pieces and it will set your wardrobe up for the next few seasons! Harem style pants are a big trend, anything slightly cropped (ankle freezers) or cargo style! Printed pants will again be huge for winter!

I think your profession really allows you to take full advantage of these comfort styles! They can all be paired with ankle boots of ballet flats, and teamed with a blazer to smarten!

I hope this helps! Let me know what you think!!

xx

Hi Kathy,

Lovely to hear from you!!

If you are feeling conscious of your hips or thighs remember its all about balancing! Try to avoid pant styles that are skin tight skinny legs! They tend to create a ‘funnel’ look for your legs -making them look very skinny at the ankles -emphasising any shape through the thighs! I would suggest pants that are slim leg or straight leg! Still fairly fitted all the way through but less emphasis on ankles -balancing your hips. Also be very conscious of detailing through the waist. Avoid pants that have extra button detailing or stitching around the waist! This tends to draw attention to this areas- that means no diamonds stitched on your pockets hehe!!!

Finally an easy way to change the look of this area is to be conscious of where your tops finish! You will find that tops that finish below the waistline of your pants will be more flattering! Avoid tops that finish on the waistline of your pants, or that have elastic bands through the waist line! These styles will create focal points of your waist! Witchery has great options for tops with uneven or longer hemlines atm! Also consider blouses! For the best results; blouses should finish at the skinniest part of your thigh! About mid-way through the front pockets of your jeans!

Remember that you need to create a focal point of your outfit. In your case you want to avoid this being the waist/ thigh area so draw the eye away from this area by accessorising with a nice necklace (draws the eye up) or statement shoes in a brighter colour or pattern (draws the eye down).

Additionally be conscious of the wash & fabric of your pants! You want to avoid jeans that are light washed in areas like the thighs. As the eye is drawn to the light coloured wash, this will emphasis the ‘space’ of your thighs. Stick with dark coloured bottoms like black, darker denim washes and match with light coloured tops to balance!

Overall try to  follow this formula  of dark bottoms + Straight leg cut + Longer Hemline Tops & invest instatement shoes or necklaces = Feeling fabulous about your waist again!

Hope this helps!! Have fun shopping!!! xxx

With Love,

Jessie

As I have recently returned to university I have been consumed with trying to decode the ‘perfect uni wardrobe’. Fixated on how to get the most bang for my buck in wearable, comfortable, fashionable pieces that I can mix & match through out the semester!

I turned to the queens of off-duty styling for my inspiration! With constant access to fashion, these girls hold the key to the ‘how to look stylish’ vault. Im talking about models off duty (think Miranda Kerr) and it-girls like Olivia Palermo and Lara Bingle. The girls taking the looks from the catwalk, and making them wearable in everyday life!

Elle Furguson (They All Hate Us Blog)  is another name that springs to mind! Her effortlessly cool styling, the way she recycles pieces of her wardrobe and sticks to the basics is reminiscent of how I would like to look while I study (Lets be real -this how I would like to look everyday!!!).

With a cool mix of laid-back essentials and polished pieces, these girls make dressing for the everyday look easy!

How cool are these pillows!! I love bringing fashion into the home! My house is black & white theme so these throw pillows would be a great addition to my lounge!

I have almost finished decorating my new home! Recently I have been collecting black & white shopping bags to frame as art on the walls! I started doing this when I was given a thoughtful gift from a friend I really admire. I was given a beautiful clutch that was so me, it was mean’t to be! I had never had someone be so generous, or picked a gift so well suited to me! I know it sounds very materialistic but the clutch represented more than a beautiful bag, it showed that this person knew & valued me. I felt really special. I had never been gifted something like this!  SO I decided to frame the paper shopping bag it came in! I found it inspirational, not only did I think it looked pretty cool -Im a huge fan of fashion art, but it represented a goal for me. I wanted to be more like the friend who gave me that bag. I wanted to be thoughtful, kind & generous like she is! I also wanted to work hard like she had so I would have the opportunity to one day give her & the people I love a gift they can cherish!

On the note of giving, if you would like to give your bed or lounge room a face life you can find these pillows on etsy; http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheLindas?ref=seller_info

Here is a picture of the bag that started it all…

Today’s efforts: Decorating an ugly cupboard with some inspirational quotes! My favourite is “life starts outside your comfort zone” it reminds me to take risks & try new things! Its been a big motivator in helping me overcome anxiety!

I feel like my house is slowly coming together! Can’t wait to own my own home one day and really decorate from the floor up! One can only dream..

Talulah is one of my favourite labels! My wardobe is full of their beautiful pieces! I always find their fits & cuts are so well tailored to my body shape! Designer Kelli Wharton uses amazing fabrics, in beautiful custom prints & colour pallets. I always feel super special when I am wearing a Talulah piece!

Hence why I have entered this Talulah Styling competition! I chose to style the stunning Peony Dress in lilac. Inspired by the colours of this beautiful little teacup, and the feminity it represents. I used the soft hues of pink, purple & moss found i the Erickson Beamon necklace paired with the metallic sequin sole of these Miu Miu pointed pumps. Creating a truly girlies, playful look. Think Gossip Girl, feminine waistlines, over the top statement jewellery & high tea.

The competition is being run on the Talulah Label Facebook page. To enter simply post your chosen Isla by Talulah Garment to the FB page and describe how you would style it! The winners announced on the 27th of Feb will receive $200 eboutique vouchers.

Ok before you shoot me down, let me correct myself, yes I do know that these piece are in fact from Wang’s Spring collection but I ran out of ideas for a catchy title!

Nonetheless, Alexanders collection blew my socks off! Most seasons your mind can (almost) father what to expect from each designer, but in true Wang style the spring 13 collection was innovative and amazing beyond words.

The collection was simultaneously sexy & sporty. As Wang explains in his own words, ”After last season’s austerity, I wanted to pull garments apart, experiment with volumes.”

The standout pieces of the collection included dresses panelled together with invisible embroidery to create an illusion of floating on the body, whilst retaining structure.  The finished product was mind-blowing!

If like me, you can ‘t justify the AW then make sure you check out www.becandbridge.com.au for their ‘Invisible Knit’ collection. I snapped up the jumper (above).

Images of  AW13 Dion Lee has flooded social media since Centenara wore THAT blazer!

Well do I have an exciting find for you! Want to own your very own 3D Spinal blazer? (do I even have to ask?!) Then jump in your nearest space mobil and rocket yourself to portarefashion.com

Amazing, AFFORDABLE collections reminiscent of Alexander Wang! Be quick, because they sell out FAST!

You can thank me later!!
